Leaf Critter
Leaf Critter: The title of “Leaf Critter” is not tied down to any particular species, but is instead attributed to a taxonomic family of insects that contains no less than a thousand recorded species. Some of which are less common than others and/or have their own subspecies. They can vary wildly in several ways; including size, shape, color, behavior, certain anatomical parts, etc.
Despite having many differences, they also share some common important traits that put them under the same title. For example, all Leaf Critters are nocturnal, have reflective yellow eyes, and use a proboscis to consume their food.
Each species of Leaf Critter has a body that mimics a part of a plant, the most common of which being fallen leaves. But this can also include flower petals, twigs, and fragments of tree bark. When they tuck in their legs and close their eyes they are almost indistinguishable from their plant counterparts without closer inspection.
While certain Leaf Critter species may hold preferences, they are all-around decomposers that can eat dead plants, rotting meat, and other wastes. This, along with being a plentiful food source for many insect-eating species, makes them a vital part of any well vegetated ecosystem.
Habitat: Vegetated Areas
Danger Rank: Varies from Sand to Clay
Loot: Leafy Snack, Hollow Needle
