The story started out in my mind as a lil boy who drowned. In the darkness of the deep blue, he saw the wonders and vivid brightness of the sea- this concept would later be transformed by the tale of the Enchanted Watch, a french tale from Andrew Lang's fairy tale. Simply switch around a few roles, and the two become very similar. I also wanted the film to be a hybrid due to my expertise in 3D modeling and Texture. However, if I ever had the chance to rework the film again, I'd probably pick of heavily stylized 2D animation.
